About the event
BYO favorite outdoor photo.
Bethany will briefly demonstrate the steps to sketch & paint an outdoor view in watercolours, using a photo from her book, as a guide. Participants can use their own photo of a favorite place, which can include structures. I will have colour photocopies of local views that participants can use if required.
After this indoor class, you’ll be familiar with the materials and steps to enjoy going outdoors to produce a watercolour sketch.
What to expect:
10.00am to 10.15 am: We’ll start the class with a friendly welcome, where Bethany will go over the steps to produce a watercolour painting outdoors, using her new book with examples.
10.15am to 12.30 pm: Using a favorite photo as a guide, you will draw the main shapes on paper. We’ll paint sky and background washes first, waiting for layers to dry before painting darker washes and details toward the middle and foreground.
The following materials will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own if you'd prefer:
- Student watercolour paints, watercolour brushes and 2 sheets of 300 gsm hot pressed paper
- A light weight board & cardboard A4 frame
- Masking tape
- Graphite pencil and eraser
- 2 x sheets of A 4 300 gsm hot pressed water colour paper
